Belarus’ PM opines on cooperation prospects with Samara Obast

MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) – Belarus’ Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko outlined Belarus-Samara Oblast cooperation prospects as he met with Samara Oblast Governor Dmitry Azarov, BelTA has learned.

“At today’s meeting the head of state listed the main successes and achievements in Belarus’ cooperation with Samara Oblast in trade, economy, science, technology, and the humanitarian field. The most important thing now is to discuss in detail what else we can do to ramp up our cooperation. We need to identify possible bottlenecks and points of growth in order to make the most of our cooperation opportunities,” Roman Golovchenko said.

He noted that at this point it is very important to work fast. “The situation is rather complicated, but there is nothing critical. Belarus and Russia are able to provide people with all the necessary tools to harvest crops, raise livestock, produce high-tech goods. Now cooperation, mutual supplies, substitution of products from unfriendly countries are coming to the forefront. All this prompts us to think fast and act fast,” the prime minister emphasized.

The program of the visit of the Samara Oblast delegation to Belarus is quite busy, Roman Golovchenko noted. The delegation is to discuss cooperation with MTZ, Amkodor, BKM Holding and other Belarusian enterprises. In particular, the Russian automobile giant AvtoVAZ is interested in cooperation with Belarusian partners.

“Belarus, for its part, would like to meet your region’s needs in all kinds of engineering products like trucks, municipal vehicles, road construction equipment, electric transport. As for the automotive industry, we will be glad to consider all forms of collaboration, including supply of component parts to produce vehicles or other projects,” Roman Golovchenko added.

Samara Oblast is implementing a large-scale agricultural industry upgrade program. The prime minister of Belarus suggested discussing cooperation in this area as well.

Cooperation in the construction sector holds a lot of promise, too. According to the head of government, Belarus is ready for cooperation in the field of municipal development and planning, the use of modern technologies in construction, as well as production and supply of building materials.

Science and technology are also promising avenues of cooperation. Samara Oblast is forging academic contacts with the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
