MINSK, 25 January (BelTA) – Belarus has plans to organize new science and research contests in cooperation with China and Turkey, Segei Gaponenko, the head of the executive directorate of the Belarusian Foundation for Fundamental Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, said at a press conference to mark the Day of Belarusian Science on 25 January, BelTA has learned.
“We have plans to launch several new contests this year. We are currently in talks with the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). We are ready to negotiate the terms of a new joint Belarusian-Chinese competition in natural science. Besides, we are almost ready to launch a joint competition with Turkey,” Segei Gaponenko said.
He cited several other examples of international cooperation in this field. “Last year, we established the Eurasian Association of Organizations Supporting Scientific Research jointly with the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and several other foundations. Now we are considering the possibility of holding joint projects. Plans have been made to launch the first joint competition in 2017,” Segei Gaponenko added.
The Belarusian Foundation for Fundamental Research was established by a decree of the government in 1991 to step up the financial support for fundamental research in natural science, technology, and the humanities conducted by different organizations, universities and independent researchers in Belarus.
