MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) - Belarus intends to attract grants from the Eastern European Partnership regional fund in housing and utilities services, energy efficiency and environment, reads a statement on the official website of the Belarusian Economy Ministry, BelTA has learned.
“In London Belarus signed a contribution agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on the country’s participation in the Eastern Partnership regional fund for regional energy efficiency and environment,” reads the statement.
On behalf of Belarus the document was signed by Belarus First Deputy Economy Minister Dmitry Krutoy, on behalf of the EBRD - by Alistair Clark, Managing Director, Environment and Sustainability.
“Thanks to the contribution agreement we will be able to attract grants of the regional fund for co-financing the projects with the participation of the EBRD in the housing and utilities sector, energy efficiency and environment,” the statement said.
The Economy Ministry noted that the cooperation with the regional fund will help attract additional investments in all regions of Belarus for projects to upgrade water treatment plants, to improve the energy efficiency of public buildings, to assimilate energy saving technologies, and to modernize heat supply networks and public transport.
