MOSCOW, 12 January (BelTA) – Belarus Pavilion at VDNKh set an attendance record, Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi told journalists at the opening ceremony of the Brest Oblast Days at the exhibition center in Moscow on 11 January, BelTA has learned.
"Two years ago, the Belarusian president instructed to transform and rebrand Belarus Pavilion at VDNKh. As our relations with Russia are strong strategic, allied, and fraternal we needed to showcase the potential of Belarus on a larger scale. It would have been a missed opportunity not to take advantage of VDNKh's popularity as the second most visited tourist attraction in Moscow, after Red Square,” Ambassador Dmitry Krutoi noted.
The ambassador stated that the presidents of Belarus and Russia agreed to include a trade component in Belarus Pavilion and showcase novelties from the country's largest and most popular enterprises. The pavilion also features general information about the country, its state system, achievements in the economy, and military and political cooperation. "Last year, the pavilion drew a record-breaking 1.2 million visitors. The increase in the flow of people was not only related to the Russia international exhibition that started in November. Our exhibit, a BelAZ truck, was the second most visited at VDNKh after the Moscow Sun ferris wheel in 2023,’ the ambassador noted.
Ambassador Dmitry Krutoi recalled that President Aleksandr Lukashenko suggested displaying a part of the Belarus Innovative national exposition in Belarus Pavilion during the Russia exhibition. “That was a success. The National Academy of Sciences signed many contracts,” he noted.
In 2023 the Belarusian president made a decision to showcase Belarusian regions at VDNKh. Brest Oblast was the first. The ambassador announced that the exhibitions showcasing Belarusian oblasts will be held at VDNKh in Moscow for six months, until 3 July.
