MINSK, 2 January (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Pakistan Andrei Yermolovich met with Tariq Fatemi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, on 2 January to discuss a wide range of matters of bilateral cooperation and review the status of implementation of the agreements signed during top-level visits, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The parties agreed to organize a visit of a Belarusian agricultural delegation to Pakistan in H1 2017 to discuss issues related to the establishment of joint ventures to produce dairy products and halal meat. The sides also plan to organize a visit of a large Pakistani textile industry delegation to Minsk. The delegation will come to discuss the opportunities for setting up joint light industry enterprises with Belarus’ Bellegprom Concern. Apart from that, Minsk will host a delegation of representatives of Pakistan’s top pharmaceutical companies in 2017.
The parties confirmed their readiness to hold another (fourth over the past 1.5 years) meeting of the joint Belarusian-Pakistani commission for trade and economic cooperation.
Andrei Yermolovich also met with Mian Raza Rabbani, Chairman of the Senate of the Pakistani Parliament. The parties discussed ways to strengthen the interparliamentary cooperation and increase the participation of MPs in the trade, economic and investment relations. They also considered matters related to the organization of visits of parliamentary delegations.
