Belarus, Pakistan gearing up for first agricultural forum

MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Pakistan are gearing up to hold the first agricultural forum, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said at a meeting of the House of Representatives’ Council on 30 March, BelTA has learned.

“We are preparing for an official visit of the Belarusian parliamentary delegation to Pakistan, which is scheduled for 9-13 April. The program, apart from high-level meetings, will include the first Belarus-Pakistan agricultural forum. A representative delegation of businessmen will visit Islamabad as well,” the speaker said.

In his words, heads of the parliaments of China, the Czech Republic, India and Pakistan are expected to visit Belarus in the coming months. “Visits should be thoroughly studied and filled with economic content,” the Speaker of the House of Representatives said.

Belarusian MPs will continue their work in the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. In June Belarus will be preparing for hosting the 52nd session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State.

“The task of paramount importance is to host the 26th OSCE PA session in July 2017. Not long ago, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA) Christine Muttonen paid a visit to Belarus, during which the agreement was signed to hold the session in Minsk,” said Vladimir Andreichenko. He is convinced that the preparations for the session will require maximum effort and responsibility from all the government bodies and the House of Representatives in the first place. All MPs and workers of the secretariat should be actively involved in the process, the speaker added.
