MINSK, 5 October (BelTA) – Electricity rates in Belarus will be reduced after the nuclear power plant is commissioned, BelTA learned from Sergei Greben, Head of the Department of Energy Efficiency, Ecology and Science of the Belarusian Energy Ministry.
"After the launch of the nuclear power plant, the prime cost of electricity will be lower and the consumer electricity rates will be reduced. We are now working to find out by how much," Sergei Greben said.
The Energy Ministry defines new approaches to promote greater use of electricity. "This is not only electric transport, of course. We are considerig all ways to maximize the electric energy use," he noted.
When asked about the draft law on electric power, Sergei Greben said that the document is being finalized considering the comments received. "We have no final version of the document.
