Belarus, Moldova considering joint venture in food production

MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) – Belarus and Moldova are considering the possibility of establishing a joint venture in the food production industry. The relevant arrangements were discussed during the meeting of Belarusian Trade Minister Vladimir Koltovich and a Moldovan delegation led by Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Eduard Grama on 1 August, the press service of the Belarusian Trade Ministry told BelTA.

The sides discussed topical matters of bilateral cooperation in supplying alcohol, fruits and vegetables, cooperation in organizing and participating in expos and fairs, and the possibility of setting up a food production joint venture in Belarus on mutually beneficial terms.

In the last two years grape import from Moldova rose by 2.5 times to 20,600 tonnes in 2015 or nearly 46% of the total amount of grapes Belarus imports.

Apart from that, last year Belarus started importing more tomatoes, early potatoes, fruit and vegetable juices, tinned vegetables from Moldova.
