Belarus' Minsk, Russia's Krasnoyarsk sign agreement on cooperation

Belarus' Minsk, Russia's Krasnoyarsk sign agreement on cooperation

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – The Minsk City Hall and the Krasnoyarsk Administration signed an agreement on trade, economic, sci-tech, social and cultural cooperation on 18 September. The priority areas for the development of business relations between the two cities are to set up a trading house, expand dealer options and develop tourism, BelTA has learned.

Mutual trade with Krasnoyarsk Krai is $10 million today. The export of goods and services has increased approximately by 16%. “There is a number of goods which are interesting for Krasnoyarsk as part of infrastructure projects and area-based development. Apart from food products, we can supply Krasnoyarsk Krai with various farming and forestry equipment,” Minsk Vice Mayor Aleksandr Krepak said.

Krasnoyarsk Mayor Sergei Eremin stressed that Minsk and Krasnoyarsk enjoy long-standing friendship and shared history. “Today we have finally approached the official regulation of our mutual relations. This will motivate us to make more headway in a number of areas. We are mulling over the ways to improve the city status of Krasnoyarsk. Objectively I have no city except for Minsk I would like to emulate. For me Minsk is a paragon of cleanness, tidiness and husbandry,” the mayor of Krasnoyarsk said.

The parties discussed the strengthening of trading positions. Some large Belarusian enterprises are present in Krasnoyarsk. These are Amkodor, BelAZ, and Minsk Tractor Plant. Local residents voice their need for quality Belarusian goods, food products in particular. This will require the development of a reliable supply channel, a powerful trading house of Minsk (or Belarus in general) in Krasnoyarsk.

The Belarusian capital and Krasnoyarsk will also develop cooperation in tourism. The cities will start with sharing data on tourism capacities. “Minsk can be a good tourist destination for Siberia people. This city can represent Europe at a decent level. Moreover, there is no language barrier,” Sergei Eremin said.

The parties talked over the possibility to expand dealer options. The cities will build maximally efficient transport logistics to secure cooperation for several companies with a view to cheapening the ultimate price for the product by means of reducing transportation costs.
