MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – The Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Luxembourg-based company UNERA Luxembourg S.A. which operates a subsidiary, OOO UneroGrupp, in Grodno, Belarus, BelTA learned from the NASB press service.
The NASB Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering is currently working on a technology to produce the biomass of microalgae Spirulina. The institute is setting up the production of the strain Spirulina platensis IBCE S-2 from its own algological collection. In accordance with the memorandum of cooperation, the Belarusian-made Spirulina shall be utilized as raw material to produce ingredients with high biological activity and shall be used jointly in various economic sectors.
UNERA Luxembourg S.A. is the developer and owner of the technology to produce biologically active compounds from microalgae and bacterial cells. The company also manufactures ingredients for dietary supplements and cosmetics.
