MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) - Belarus plans to increase food exports up to $7.8 billion by the end of the year, Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo told the media, BelTA has learned.

“We had relatively good figures in January-May - the growth in value terms made up 114% compared to the same period last year. We sold our goods to over 100 countries for $2.8 billion. Our goal is to reach $7.8 billion by the end of the year. We will have to add more than $1 billion to the previous year's level,” said Igor Brylo.

According to him, now there are quite good price conditions in the markets for Belarusian products. “The Russian Federation remains our main market: it accounts for about 70% of our food exports. We are planning to increase this percentage by the end of the year since the price factor is very good. The CIS countries account for about 10% of the Belarusian total food exports,” the minister said.

There has been a significant growth in the exports to other countries – up almost 67%. Deliveries have increased to China and other countries of Asia and Oceania, Africa. “Diversification of Belarusian exports is, of course, a very important aspect in the economy of the agro-industrial complex. Our products are recognizable and competitive,” Igor Brylo said.
