Belarus looks forward to closer cooperation with China

MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) - Belarus looks forward to closer cooperation with China, including through the establishment of manufactures and enterprises with direct investments of Chinese companies, Belarus’ Deputy Economy Minister Alexander Yaroshenko said when speaking at a conference on the Chinese economy, Belarusian-Chinese cooperation and joint development of the Silk Road economic zone on 24 March, BelTA has learned.

“The main points of growth on which we rely are microelectronics (including mobile systems), fine chemicals, transportation components, and telecommunication equipment. These manufactures will be also developed at the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park Great Stone,” Alexander Yaroshenko said.

“The level of the Belarusian-Chinese credit and investment cooperation we have already achieved, and the arrival of the Chinese corporations in the Belarusian market have laid a solid foundation for the transition from credit cooperation towards closer integration, including through the establishment of manufactures and enterprises involving direct Chinese investment,” Alexander Yaroshenko said.

Alexander Yaroshenko noted the importance of the meeting of the commission on trade and economic cooperation of the Belarusian-Chinese intergovernmental committee which was held in Beijing in August 2015. Back then the parties agreed to prepare concrete measures of interaction as part of the Silk Road economic zone.

The conference was organized by the Chinese Embassy in Belarus. Attending the event were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming, representatives of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Economy Ministry, the China-Belarus Industrial Park, the Departments of International Relations and Economics of Belarusian State University, and the Belarusian-Chinese Friendship Society.
