Belarus launches mass production of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine

MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – The Belmedpreparaty pharmaceutical company has started mass production of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus, BelTA informs citing the press service of the Healthcare Ministry.

“The bottling of first commercial batches of the Sputnik V vaccine from semi-finished products of Russia’s pharmaceutical company Generium, which is part of Pharmstandard, has begun. All the necessary preparatory work has been completed,” the press service noted.

According to Belmedpreparaty Director General Sergei Belyayev, the vaccine can be used to vaccinate the general public starting from late April, after quality control findings are received. There are plans to produce up to 500,000 doses every month.
