MINSK, 3 October (BelTA) – The railway administrations of Belarus and Latvia have signed a memorandum of cooperation on developing freight transportation in rapid trains between the two countries, BelTA has learned.
The sides will work together to move cargoes fast by rail between Minsk and Riga. The document provides for coordinated interaction with consignees, consignors, forwarding and stevedore companies, and other participants of the transport services market.
The first train is supposed to go into service by late 2017.
The Minsk-Riga train will carry cargoes transported as part of the Silk Road Economic Belt project between China and the European Union in the direction of Latvia.
