MINSK, 25 January (BelTA) – Belarus and Kyrgyzstan have discussed the possibility of resuming the assembling of tractors and launching joint production of elevators. The matter was considered during the visit of a Belarusian delegation to Kyrgyzstan, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Belarusian delegation comprised Deputy Industry Minister Alexander Ogorodnikov, and representatives of the Belarusian companies Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark) and Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark).
In Bishkek the delegation met with Kyrgyzstani First Vice Prime Minister Aaly Karashev. Partaking in the meeting also were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Kyrgyzstan Viktor Denisenko and Kyrgyzstani Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Turdunazir Bekboev co-chairing the commission for trade and economic cooperation. “The parties discussed a wide range of matters of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, including the possibility of resuming the assembling of MTZ tractors in Kyrgyzstan, launching joint production of Mogilevliftmash elevators, and supplying Belarus-made agricultural and utility vehicles to Kyrgyzstan,” the press service said.
The delegation also met with Bishkek Mayor Kubanychbek Kulmatov to talk over the possibility of expanding Belarus’ exports of MTZ and MAZ utility vehicles to Bishkek.
The program of the visit included a meeting with executives of Aiyl Bank. The parties discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in matters related to the purchase of Belarus-made agricultural machines.
A memorandum of cooperation between the Kyrgyzstan Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Minsk Tractor Works and Avtomash-Radiator company was signed.
Prospects for supplying agricultural, utility and passenger vehicles to Osh Region and the city of Osh were discussed.
The Belarusian delegation also visited the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University where they met with the university faculty. An agreement was reached to supply Belarusian tractors for the engineering department and possible internships of the university students at Minsk Tractor Works.
