NOVOSIBIRSK, 27 September (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in modernizing Russia’s Yakovlev and Antonov aircraft together with Chaplygin Siberian Aeronautical Research Institute, Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov noted as he met with Governor of Russia’s Novosibirsk Oblast Vladimir Gorodetsky on 27 September, BelTA has learned.
Andrei Kobykov stressed Belarus’ interest in strengthening cooperation in the maintenance, repair, and modernization of light aircraft and airliners. Belarus has preserved the human resources and production capacities for the repair, modernization, and maintenance of civil aircraft, including the Yakovlev Yak-40, Yak-42, and Yak-52 airplanes.
“A new aircraft repair plant is under construction in Belarus. We are interested in teaming up with Chaplygin Siberian Aeronautical Research Institute in order to co-modernize Yakovlev and Antonov aircraft,” Andrei Kobyakov said.
Both sides show interest in innovative, scientific, and practical cooperation and training of specialists. “Today we visited the Innovative Medical Technology Center in Novosibirsk. Your experience is noteworthy. We are ready to explore this field and show our experience,” the prime minister added.
