Belarus-Iran cooperation prospects in mechanical engineering discussed

Photo courtesy of the Council of the RepublicMINSK, 7 August (BelTA) – Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich met with Iran's President Hassan Rouhani to congratulate him on his re-election on behalf of the Belarusian head of state, BelTA learned from the press service of the Council of the Republic.

“The parties discussed the development of bilateral relations, trade, economic, humanitarian and investment cooperation. One of the themes for discussion were promising joint projects in the mechanical engineering sector. The Iranian president emphasized the importance of industrial cooperation between the two countries and praised the quality of Belarusian products,” the press service said. The parties also agreed on the importance of cooperation as part of the International North–South Transport Corridor, which is able to expand the horizons of bilateral trade and economic relations and secure the growth of mutual trade.

According to the press service, similar positions of Belarus and Iran on many issues of the international agenda and also mutual support on universal international platforms are one of the seeable results of the high-level political relations between the two countries.

“Hassan Rouhani thanked Belarus for the constructive role it plays in the process of concluding agreements between the Eurasian Economic Union and Iran, adding that this unity is forming a new quality of economic ties in the region,” the Council of the Republic said.

The president of Iran confirmed the invitation of Alexander Lukashenko to pay an official visit to Iran.
