MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – Belarus has been invited to build another mining and processing factory in Turkmenistan. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the relevant statement in his address to the nation and the parliament on 21 April, BelTA has learned.
The head of state said: “Let me tell you a small secret: during the acceptance ceremony of the [Garlyk] mining and processing factory the Turkmenistan president asked us to build a second factory like that. You may have noticed that a tender has already been opened for building the second factory. I was told that everything will be done to entrust Belarusians with building the second factory. I said we will win the tender anyway if we want to.”
The president remarked that the project needs some careful thought since the necessary base is already in place: the second factory is located 40-60km away from the first one. “If the conditions are acceptable, selling the current base — tractors, bulldozers, excavators and other machines — will not be necessary. Instead we will be able to move them by 40km and start building the second mining and processing factory if we win the tender. But let me emphasize that all the errors we committed during the construction of the first Garlyk mining and processing factory must be analyzed,” stated Alexander Lukashenko.
