Belarus interested in manufacturing cooperation with SCO member states

BISHKEK, 3 November (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in a closer partnership with the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said at the meeting of the SCO Heads of Government Council in Bishkek on 3 November, BelTA has learned.

Andrei Kobyakov said that manufacturing cooperation with the SCO member states is among Belarus’ priorities. “We seek to expand the manufacturing cooperation as much as possible, using our experience in the establishment of joint ventures on different continents. We see great prospects for the consolidated effort to manufacture new samples of competitive machine-building products and ensure proper after-sale service,” Andrei Kobyakov noted.

He pointed out that agriculture is another promising cooperation avenue. “Belarus is among the leaders in terms of agricultural production. It shows world-class performance in several sectors. We are ready to share our best practices with our partners,” the Belarusian head of government said.

He believes that the cooperation in industry and agriculture should rely on an ongoing development of transport and logistics.

“In this regard, Belarus’ participation in the intergovernmental agreement on the creation of favorable conditions for international road transport between the SCO member states of 12 September 2014 would be a significant step,” the Prime Minister said. It is extremely important to develop interaction in financial and banking services and work out common approaches to risk assessment of the SCO countries and financial institutions.

Andrei Kobyakov stressed that Belarus is ready to strengthen its ties with the SCO countries in science, education, tourism, culture, youth projects, and environmental protection.

“We hope that Belarus’ capacities and capabilities will be taken into account as the SCO drafts future plans and projects. I would like to emphasize that Belarus is open to the most daring and innovative initiatives, is committed to mutually beneficial constructive interaction with the member states, observer states and dialogue partners of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,” Andrei Kobyakov said.
