MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in expanding the range of exports to Myanmar, Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov said as he met with the parliamentary delegation of Myanmar on 22 May, BelTA has learned.

“We are interested in expanding the range of exports to Myanmar, including by boosting the export of mineral fertilizers, quarry equipment, metal products, diesel generators, radio electronic devices, tires, oil products, foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals,” Andrei Kobyakov noted. In his words, the sides are mulling over the possibility to deliver Belarusian freight and passenger vehicles, road construction equipment for the needs of Myanmar’s national economy, special equipment and devices, medications. The prime minister said that military-technical cooperation is another promising area in the relations between Belarus and Myanmar. According to Andrei Kobyakov, Belarus can be interested in such exports of Myanmar as rice, leguminous crops, seafood, rubber, nonferrous metals and precious gems.

The prime minister noted that the cooperation with Myanmar is increasingly vibrant. Despite the volume of bilateral trade is not big, there is a pronounced growth trend. Belarus and Myanmar step up cooperation in a number of promising industries, study the prospects of partaking in various projects in the energy sector, development of mineral deposits, innovative technologies, agriculture for Belarusian specialists.

“Our main objective is to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas. I would like to stress that the development of relations with our country gives access to the market of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) to Myanmar. Our integration association is currently holding talks on the creation of a free trade zone with ASEAN members via Vietnam,” the Belarusian head of government stated.

Andrei Kobyakov expressed hope that all agreements reached during the visit will be implemented in full. The Belarusian government is ready to provide all-round assistance to Myanmar in any projects. “I am confident that Myanmar will be a reliable and influential strategic partner in Southeast Asia for Belarus. We are prepared to discuss all interesting topics,” Andrei Kobyakov said.
