Belarus harvests 51,100t of corn for grain

MINSK, 16 September (BelTA) – Belarus has harvested 51,100 tonnes of corn for grain, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

Harvesting corn for grain is underway in Brest Oblast, Grodno Oblast, Minsk Oblast and Gomel Oblast, with 7.060 hectares of land already cleared, with the yields averaging 71.5 centners per hectare.

As of 16 September, 7,173,100 tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, was cropped in the country. This included 6,182,200 tonnes of grain and leguminous crops and over 990,900 tonnes of rapeseed.

In addition to that, 33,400 tonnes of buckwheat (yields are 15 centners per hectare) and 15,900 tonnes of millet (yields reach 19.5 centners per hectare) were threshed.

The flax straw harvest reached 97,600 tonnes. Cereal and legume straws were harvested from 80.7% of the area.

Belarusian agricultural workers have harvested some 212,300 tonnes of potatoes. The yields average 357.3 centners per hectare.  Sugar beet harvesting is underway in Belarus. Some 548,300 tonnes of sugar beet were removed, with the yields reaching up to 450 centners per hectare.
