Belarus’ Grodno Oblast, Brazil to develop cooperation

Belarus’ Grodno Oblast, Brazil to develop cooperation

GRODNO, 23 June (BelTA) - Grodno Oblast of Belarus and Brazil are set to develop cooperation, Grodno Oblast Governor Vladimir Karanik told the media after the meeting with Brazil’s Ambassador to Belarus Bernard Jorg Leopold de Garcia Klingl, BelTA has learned.

“Despite the geographical distance of the Republic of Belarus in general and Grodno Oblast in particular, we have very long-standing and effective, productive ties with Brazil. These are the supply of our products to Brazil, and the import of products of Brazilian enterprises. Before the sanctions had been imposed, we saw that the exports and imports and the volume of trade were steadily increasing. In recent years, certain difficulties have arisen, but the dynamics of 2022-2023 shows certain recovery in trade. Today's meeting with the ambassador once again confirmed that there was a mutual interest in developing cooperation. Few people know that Brazil is not only football, carnival and Brazilian coffee, but also aircraft and other high-tech products. Therefore, the range of mutual interests is very wide,” Vladimir Karanik said.

He added: “Brazil is still interested in the supply of our goods. A great desire was expressed to establish cooperation at the level of educational institutions, our youth. According to the ambassador, the way our country is represented in the media in the West and the reality are very different. His wish is that both our and Brazilian students work together in the future to improve the security of our countries, to develop the economy, to develop cultural interaction in order to mutually enrich each other.”
