MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – Civil Protection University of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry has hosted a meeting to discuss preparations for an Emergency Preparedness Review (EPREV) mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The information is posted on the website of the ministry, BelTA has learned.
The meeting focused on preparations for an EPREV mission and the national mechanism of emergency preparedness for nuclear accidents. The participants also reviewed the status of the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant and the country’s nuclear program.
Partaking in the meeting were Marina Nizamska, a representative of the Bulgarian Nuclear Regulatory Agency and the head of the EPREV team, Jing Zhang, the head of Section 1 in the Division for Europe at the IAEA Department of Technical Cooperation, and Mark Breitinger, the coordinator of the EPREV team.
BelTA reported earlier that a Site and External Events Design (SEED) mission was conducted in Belarus from 16 to 20 January. The country now plans to host an EPREV mission before the end of 2017.
