Belarus, France discuss investment projects, business cooperation

MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) – The implementation of Belarusian-French projects and ways to develop cooperation between businessmen were in the focus of the visit of Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko to France on 15-16 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Belarusian diplomat met with Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, France’s Secretary of State at the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. The sides discussed bilateral and multilateral cooperation, prospects of Belarus-EU dialogue in the Eastern Partnership, international and regional security. They paid considerable attention to preparations for the third session of Belarus-France commission on economic cooperation due in Minsk in 2018. Oleg Kravchenko and Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne also discussed the implementation of investment projects in Belarus with the participation of French companies, and prospects for expanding contacts between the business communities of the two countries.

Bilateral cooperation and interaction in international organizations came into the spotlight of the consultations between Oleg Kravchenko and Florence Mangin, Director for Continental Europe at the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. They mapped out measures to intensify dialogue in politics, economics, and culture.

Oleg Kravchenko also met with Chairman of the France-Belarus friendship group in the Senate Charles Guene, Chairman of the European Affairs Committee Jean Bizet, Vice President of the French National Assembly Carole Bureau-Bonnard, and Chairman of the France-Belarus friendship group in the National Assembly Christophe Lejeune. The sides discussed bilateral relations, prospects for expanding interparliamentary ties, and ways to develop economic and cultural contacts between the regions of Belarus and France.

The deputy minister of foreign affairs is scheduled to meet with Thomas Gomart, Director of the French Institute of International Relations.
