MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) – Belarus’ food export is projected to exceed $6 billion in 2021, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Aleksei Bogdanov at a press conference on 18 November.

The official said: “If the current dynamics stays in place, then food export is projected to exceed $6 billion. Let me remind you that Belarus exported $5.8 billion worth of food last year. We intend to approach $7 billion in 2025. Taking into account plans to increase production and the high competition in prices on the global market, we expect we will easily reach this figure. The main trend of the current five-year term is the rising output of milk, meat, crop products and deeper processing. In other words, the choice of exports will grow larger. We have a strategy and a program designed to increase the output of ready-made products per tonne of raw materials.”

In January-September 2021 Belarus’ food export rose by 12.6% to exceed $4.7 billion. The share of agribusiness in Belarus’ total export was virtually 17%. The geography of export remains very large: Belarusian foods are exported to over 100 countries. Growth is registered in all the markets, including the Russian Federation although the country’s share continues declining due to shipment diversification, the deputy agriculture and food minister said.
