Belarus’ export of construction, engineering services up 4.2% since year start

MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) – Belarus’ export of construction, engineering and architectural services has gone up 4.2% year to date, Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak said at a joint sitting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus on 25 September, BelTA has learned.

“The export of construction, engineering and architectural services has increased by 4.2% (about $420 million) since the beginning of the year. The foreign trade surplus reached a record-high of $224 million. Such results have been achieved thanks to the work carried out in cooperation with the Government of the Russian Federation on a wide presence of Belarusian contracting organizations on the markets of Russian regions. At the same time, following a significant growth in 2023 (about 130% as compared to 2022), the volume of contractor’s works performed outside the country has been reduced this year. The government will continue to work on the matter,” Anatoly Sivak said.

This year, an increase has been registered in export supplies of the following commodity items: tempered glass and glass containers (more than two times), building blocks and bricks (up 48%), sanitary and technical products (up 29%), cement (up 3.3%).

“The output of the Belarusian building materials industry amounted to Br4.8 billion in January-August 2024, up 6% year-on-year. One of the main components of sustainable development of the building materials industry remains a high level of quality of finished products, and their competitiveness,” the deputy prime minister added.
