MINSK, 4 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ export reached $23.7 billion in January-October 2017, BelTA learned from the report released by the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to sum up results of the country’s foreign policy and the ministry’s efforts in 2017.
Thanks to concerted efforts of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, other ministries and companies the country’s export totaled $23.7 billion in January-October 2017, 22.6% up from the same period of 2016. In cost terms Belarus’ export rose by $4.4 billion, including thanks to sales of mechanical engineering products and other products with a high added value.
In 2017 the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs initiated and coordinated the organization of sessions of the interagency council for foreign trade policy. Participants of the sessions analyzed various aspects of development of distribution chains of Belarusian exporters, ways to reduce the foreign accounts receivable, ways to improve the quality of products, and other matters.
Established under the aegis of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enable a direct dialogue with the exporting companies, the Council of Exporters discussed dozens of proposals of Belarusian companies.
In 2017 the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs helped organize over 200 international events meant to advance cooperation in investment sphere and advertise Belarus’ economic potential. Close attention was paid to improving and simplifying foreign trade operations.
