Belarus expects to earn $2m on breeding cattle export

MINSK, 8 July (BelTA) - Belarus expects that the export of breeding stock will reach $2 million by the end of the year, Belarus Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo said in an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel on 7 July, BelTA has learned.

Igor Brylo noted that Belarusian cattle is commercially successful outside the country. Major sales markets are Russia, Georgia, and Kazakhstan. The volume of exports has already reached approximately $500,000 since the beginning of the year.  “We are planning to export $2 million worth of breeding stock by the end of the year,” he said.

He added that Belarus has fine-tuned the technology of marbled beef production. The deputy minister believes that the processing companies, retail networks need to work harder to promote premium meat. “Every year we increase its production. In 2018 we processed more than 3,000 tonnes that went on sale in our stores. The focus was on the domestic market. Now we are working on a very important line of business, namely export, he added.
