MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) – Representatives of Belarus and Lithuania discussed transit capabilities of the Lithuanian port Klaipeda with a view to exporting merchandise to third countries, the press service of the Belarusian Economy Ministry told BelTA.
Belarusian Economy Minister Vladimir Zinovsky was in Lithuania on a working visit on 22-23 February. He visited the Klaipeda port on 23 February in order to discuss prospects of using the port’s transit capabilities for shipping Belarusian exports to third countries.
Vladimir Zinovsky also met with Lithuanian Transport and Communications Minister Rokas Masiulis to discuss topical matters concerning cooperation in transport and transit affairs.
On 22 February the Belarusian Economy Minister met with representatives of Lithuanian business circles. Preparations for the forthcoming Belarusian-Lithuanian economic forum were discussed. The Belarusian Economy Minister also met with Lithuanian Economy Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius, who co-chairs the Belarusian-Lithuanian commission on trade and economic cooperation. The conversation touched upon the current state of the bilateral relations in trade, economy, transport, and tourism. Ways to invigorate business contacts and step up trade turnover were discussed.
