Belarus-EU common interests manifested in joint projects

MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) – Common interests of the Republic of Belarus and the European Union are manifested in joint projects. The opinion was voiced by Head of the EU Delegation to Belarus Andrea Wiktorin on 6 November, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus and the European Union have common interests, which are manifested in joint projects. They take care of environmental protection and other areas,” said the diplomat.

She said she believes that Belarus and the European Union will continue advancing relations in the areas they are interested in and will put joint efforts into it.

Speaking about the development of cooperation in economic affairs, Andrea Wiktorin noted that the Belarusian economy needs structural reforms. “I would like Belarus’ leaders and the nation to go ahead with these reforms,” she said.

The diplomat also admitted it is comfortable for her to work in Belarus. She was glad to be in Belarus once more. “I worked in Belarus in the past, in 2000-2003 [as part of the German embassy] and I wanted to get back to you. I am happy to be here. I like watching you grow. I like your people. It is impressive how much Minsk has changed in my absence. I hope I will have time to see the entire country,” she added.
