MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – The first Belarus-Egypt medical center, Cairo-Minsk Orthopedics, has opened near Cairo, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Egypt.
“As part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Arab Republic of Egypt, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Egypt Sergei Terentyev took part in the ceremony to inaugurate a medical center,” the diplomatic mission informed. The center is located in 6th of October, a city in Giza Governorate, a satellite town and part of the urban area of Cairo. It specializes in trauma and orthopedics.
The center has hired Belarusian and Egyptian personnel. The medical facility is fitted with the latest in equipment for diagnostics and treatment.
The head of the diplomatic mission spoke highly of the Belarus-Egypt cooperation in medicine, in particular. The opening of the first joint medical center in Egypt is a testimony to that. Dozens and even hundreds of Egyptian doctors have been trained in Belarus. Belarus shares advanced practices in treating various diseases with Egypt, in particular its expertise and knowledge in cardiology, cancer treatment, dentistry. Belarus also supplies modern X-ray equipment to Egypt.
Belarus is highly interested in promoting cooperation in pharmaceutics and tropical medicine (an interdisciplinary branch of medicine that deals with health issues that occur mostly in tropical and subtropical regions).
At present, Egypt supplies a significant amount of medicines to Belarus, including medications to treat COVID-19.
