MINSK, 28 August (BelTA) – Belarus and Egypt have come to terms on further development of the joint production of MAZ automobiles. The matters were discussed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Egypt Sergei Rachkov and MAZ Director General Valery Ivankovich met with Egyptian Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed al Assar, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Egypt.
Top officials of the National Organization for Military Production of Egypt, subordinate enterprises, private companies, and MAZ specialists took part in the meeting.
The sides discussed in detail further development of the joint production of MAZ automobiles in Egypt. The main stages of the project were discussed. Priority tasks for the near future were determined, including manufacturing localization. The need to step up sales of jointly manufactured products in Egypt and third countries was mentioned.
The Belarusian side presented information about possibilities of export finance and support for joint projects. A roadmap on developing the joint manufacturing was signed.
While in Cairo the MAZ CEO met with top officials of the Engineering Automotive Manufacturing Company (EAMCO). Prospects of promoting MAZ’s passenger vehicles in Egypt were discussed. MAZ and EAMCO signed a protocol of intent to jointly produce buses.
