Belarus’ economic potential to be presented to commercial counselors of foreign embassies

Belarus’ economic potential to be presented to commercial counselors of foreign embassies

MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) – Commercial counselors of foreign diplomatic missions accredited in Belarus will meet with Belarusian company heads to learn more about economic and investment capacities of Belarus. The meeting is timed to the Commercial Counselor Day arranged by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) every year, BelCCI Chairman Vladimir Ulakhovich told reporters, BelTA has learned.

“Such meetings have already become traditional. Their purpose is to introduce representatives of various states to our companies, their products and capacities, to discuss organization of exhibitions in various countries and to forge new contacts. The diplomats accredited in our country need information about Belarus, including data about its export potential. For example, one does not need to go to Africa to meet with representatives of Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria, with people in charge of trade and economic contacts. As far as Africa is concerned, our products are in demand there,” Vladimir Ulakhovich said.

He noted that such meetings arouse a great interest on the part of Belarusian enterprises and representatives of diplomatic missions of various countries. “The number of participants increases every year. Today’s meeting was attended by representatives of about 40 countries. The list of attendees also features over 130 Belarusian enterprises. This is a unique opportunity to promote their products, to meet with representatives of such faraway countries as Brazil, Laos and Bangladesh,” he said.

The program of events includes a plenary session with a presentation of economic and investment potential of the country, as well as talks between Belarusian business people and commercial counselors of diplomatic missions operating in Belarus and diplomatic missions based in Russia with concurrent accreditation in Belarus. The parties will discuss ways to ramp up export and address issues related to the sales of Belarusian merchandise in the B2D format.

The diplomats will tour the BelGee company, Belarus’ first full-cycle car manufacturer. “It is important to use this meeting to present new projects implemented by Belarus. Such projects include mechanical engineering and production of car parts. Therefore, we invite the diplomats to visit our new company and buy our products,” Vladimir Ulakhovich said.
