CAIRO, 19 February (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in participating in the creation of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone). Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement after negotiations with Egypt President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Cairo, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “Belarus is strongly interested in participation in large-scale projects initiated by the Egyptian leadership, primarily in the creation of the special export-oriented economic zone of the Suez Canal.”
The sides had spoken at length about the matter during the negotiations.
The Belarus president said he was confident that the first session of the Belarus-Egypt Business Cooperation Council and a joint exhibition of scientific and industrial accomplishments, which are taking place in Cairo these days, will give an additional impulse to cooperation between the countries.
