Belarus’ deputy prime minister’s visit to Russia’s Tatarstan nets $80m in contracts

MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – Contracts worth $80 million were signed as a result of the visit of Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Piotr Parkhomchik to Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan, the press service of the Belarusian government told BelTA.

Agreements were reached on deliveries of MAZ passenger vehicles (buses, trolleybuses), MTZ and Gomselmash agricultural machines as well as products of Minsk Motor Plant (MMZ) and the Belarusian steel mill BMZ to the Russian region.

The deputy prime minister noted that Belarus and Tatarstan had established constructive business relations, which have a high potential. The visit confirmed the interest of the sides in stepping up economic relations and business partnership.

The country’s manufacturing sector was represented by Industry Minister Aleksandr Rogozhnik and heads of major holding companies run by the Industry Ministry. The ministry’s press service added that a broad range of matters relating to cooperation in manufacturing sector, to manufacturing cooperation as well as prospects of interaction between industrial enterprises had been discussed with colleagues from Tatarstan.

Apart from that, the Industry Ministry noted, practical aspects of further expansion of bilateral multifaceted cooperation were discussed. The parties expressed readiness to expand the choice of products, use the entire potential of manufacturing cooperation, and confirmed the mutual interest in further expansion of practical cooperation.
