MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian customs service processes information about 80% of the cargoes intended for the Eurasian Economic Union before they arrive at automobile border checkpoints, representatives of the State Customs Committee of Belarus told BelTA.
If goods are imported by trucks into the Eurasian Economic Union, 80% of the required information is available in advance. If goods are imported by rail, 98-99% of the required information is available in advance.
Advance electronic presentation of cargo information is used as the base for filling in the customs declaration.
Advance electronic presentation of cargo information allows evaluating all kinds of risks before the cargo arrives if spare time is available.
When the cargo arrives, the customs officer verifies the hardcopy data against the data sent in advance in order to greatly reduce the time control operations require.
