MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) – On 29 August, Belarus and Cuba signed an additional protocol to the intergovernmental agreement on mutual supplies of 24 June 2014, BelTA has learned.
The protocol was signed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Evgeny Shestakov and Ambassador of Cuba to Belarus Juan Valdes Figueroa. The signing ceremony took place in the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Evgeny Shestakov stressed that the document is meant to ensure progressive and balanced development of trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Cuba, and offer opportunities to step up cooperation in industry, healthcare, and agriculture by promoting mutual supplies.
“The protocol we have signed today updates several provisions of the agreement. It will help make cooperation between economic entities of the two countries more efficient. Belarus has always paid careful attention to cooperation with Cuba which holds a special place in Belarus’ foreign policy,” Evgeny Shestakov noted.
At present, mutual supplies in line with the agreement have topped $10 million. Evgeny Shestakov noted that economic entities of the two countries have shown growing interest in expanding the list of supplied goods and increasing supplies in terms of money within the framework of the agreement.
