MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Cuba plan to bolster R&D cooperation and implement several joint projects in biotechnologies, healthcare, pharmaceutics and health technologies, Chairman of Belarus’ State Science and Technology Committee Alexander Shumilin said during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Belarus Gerardo Suarez Alvarez on the occasion of completion of his diplomatic mission, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Science and Technology Committee.
During the meeting, the sides noted a huge potential in mutually beneficial R&D and innovative cooperation and discussed the prospects for implementation of some projects including in the development of microbial preparations to protect economically important vegetable crops against diseases. They also discussed a possibility of holding a regular session of the joint Belarus-Cuba commission on cooperation in science in Minsk.
The State Science and Technology Committee is expected to organize an R&D section as part of Belarus’ national exposition of at FIHAV Havana International Fair.
