Belarus, Cuba discussing supply of powdered milk products, canned meat

MINSK, 7 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Cuba are discussing the delivery of powdered milk products and canned meat, Ksenia Meleshko, Head of the Directorate for Foreign Economic Activity at the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, said at a briefing, BelTA has learned.

“Trade and economic relations between Belarus and Cuba are making quite good progress. We export dairy products to Cuba, while Cuban products are also in great demand on our market. Today, the Agriculture and Food Ministry is holding talks with Minister of Food Industry of the Republic of Cuba Manuel Santiago Sobrino Martínez. Top on the agenda is the delivery of Belarusian products, mainly powdered dairy products and canned meat. Cooperation in science and education will also be discussed,” said Ksenia Meleshko.

According to her, Belarus’ expertise and knowledge in the food industry is also of interest to Cuba. In this regard, the Cuban delegation will visit Belarusian processing enterprises, in particular, poultry and dairy companies. A presentation of Belarus’ products and capacities will be held. The program of the visit also includes negotiations at the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus.

“Meanwhile, a delegation of our country is also on a visit to the Republic of Cuba to expand the list of enterprises that can be accredited to supply dairy and meat products to Cuba, as well as to conclude contracts. We hope that these visits will boost the trade between our countries,” the representative of the Agriculture and Food Ministry added.
