MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Russia’s Bryansk Oblast are keen to join efforts to attract companies from Bryansk Oblast to BUCE. This matter was in focus of a working meeting between BUCE’s delegation and top officials of the Bryansk Oblast CCI, BelTA learned from BUCE’s press service.

The parties plan to focus on agriculture and sales of industrial goods, as these are the most promising areas for cooperation. Aleksandr Bashliy, head of foreign trade at BUCE, noted an increased interest on the part of Russian companies in BUCE this year.

“In 2021, we would like Russia to become one of leaders in terms of the number of accredited companies and trade volume. We hold weekly videoconferences with business circles of Russian regions and visit enterprises in Smolensk Oblast, Pskov Oblast, Bryansk Oblast, and other regions in order to achieve this goal. As a result, in January-February, the sum of transactions made by Russian companies almost tripled year-on-year. Such growth was mainly attributed to massive sales of dairy products and goods for the construction industry,” Aleksandr Bashliy said.

For his part, Vice President of the Bryansk Oblast CCI Vladislav Shnekutis promised to raise awareness of the Bryansk Oblast business about the advantages of of BUCE.  “Belarus accounts for about a half of foreign trade of Bryansk Oblast, which demonstrates the high level of our trade and economic cooperation. At the same time, there is still untapped potential for advancing cooperation, especially in the field of exchange trading. In view of this, we are ready to use our network of business contacts to provide companies of Bryansk Oblast with detailed information about BUCE’s operation and advantages. We would also be happy to see BUCE’s specialists among speakers at our business events,” he noted.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry, and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
