MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) - Belarus and China will set up a working group on investment cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Economy Ministry following the working consultations with the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.
The parties discussed the preparation of joint bilateral documents on a working group on investment cooperation of the Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation. Plans are also in place to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, the Economy Ministry and the Communications Ministry of Belarus on deepening investment cooperation in the digital economy.
According to Olga Bondar, head of the Development Infrastructure Department of the Economy Ministry, the documents under development will help the two countries improve the mechanisms of interconnection in investment, accelerate joint digital transformation in various sectors, expand opportunities and prospects for the qualitative development of investment cooperation. This is a new step in the development of trade and economic cooperation between our countries, she said.
Belarus suggested holding the first meeting of the working group in Minsk in 2024.
