MINSK, 1 September (BelTA) – China has supported the idea of the Belarusian customs authority to form a commission for cooperation in customs and quarantine matters, BelTA learned from the State Customs Committee of Belarus.
“The establishment of a separate commission for cooperation in customs and quarantine matters at the Belarus-China intergovernmental committee on cooperation is at the top of the agenda of the customs cooperation with China. The General Administration of Customs of China backed the proposal of the State Customs Committee of Belarus to set up such a body,” the committee said.
Belarus and China have already started drawing up an appropriate international instrument. The State Customs Committee noted that the establishment of the commission will highlight the high level of cooperation with the Chinese customs authority and will help address customs issues and give Belarusian goods access to the Chinese market.
Belarus and China are also mulling over the development of the second tier of the customs cooperation. The Chinese partners have already suggested establishing twinning relations with the customs of Tianjin, one of the four municipalities under the direct administration of the Chinese central government.
