Belarus’ central bank chief meets with Prince Michael of Kent

MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) – The ways of attracting the British capital into the Belarusian banking system were discussed in a meeting between Chairman of the Board of Belarus’ National Bank Pavel Kallaur and Prince Michael of Kent, a member of the British royal family, BelTA learned from the information and public relations department of the National Bank.

The meeting took place during a working visit of Prince Michael of Kent to Belarus. The parties exchanged views on the prospects of the Belarusian-British cooperation in the financial, economic and banking areas, including the ways of attracting the British capital into the banking system of Belarus.

It was noted that the United Kingdom is one of Belarus’ major economic partners. In 2015, it was the third largest trading partner of Belarus.

The National Bank of Belarus also spoke highly of the role of the Institute of Certified Financial Managers (ICFM), whose patron is Prince Michael of Kent. Representatives of Belarus’ National Bank won the Luca awards twice: Achievements in the field of IFRS in 2013 and For contribution to the banking sector of Belarus in 2014.
