MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to participate in the construction of farms and potato storage facilities in Russia’s Orel Oblast, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Parkhomchik said as he met with Orel Oblast Governor Andrei Klychkov, BelTA has learned.
“We have been successfully cooperating in trade and economy for a long time already. It is gratifying that over the past three years, trade between Belarus and Orel Oblast almost doubled to reach $244 million. Over the next two years, we need to double our trade again to hit the $500 million mark. Our task is to find points of further growth,” said Piotr Parkhomchik.
He also touched upon cooperation in agriculture. “We have made very good progress in this field, we complement each other in production of agricultural products and foodstuffs. The established cooperation model is yielding good results. We share expertise and knowledge in the agricultural industry, in fruit crops breeding. We are ready to step up work in the production of seeds and highly productive feed, as well as to train specialists at Belarusian universities. We are ready to participate in the construction of dairy farms and potato storage facilities in Orel Oblast. We can do this using Belarusian technologies and equipment. It is important to note that this equipment has already been tested in real conditions,” the deputy prime minister noted.
He believes that cooperation in the industrial sector is promising. Belarus is ready to supply agricultural machinery, trolleybuses, trams and buses, as well as passenger electric transport made by MAZ and BKM Holding.
Cooperation in the construction sector is also relevant. This pertains to the provision of construction services and the supply of building materials.
