Belarus attends ITU Telecom World 2016 in Bangkok

MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – Belarus is taking part in the ITU Telecom World 2016 forum which is running under the auspices of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Bangkok, Thailand on 14-17 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Communications and Information Technology Ministry.

ITU Telecom World unites an international exhibition of digital solutions, a roundtable session at the ministerial level and also a summit of leaders (ministers and businessmen) in the information and communication technology and a forum, both highlighting the issues of digital economy in 2016. Attending the events will be Communications and Information Technology Minister Sergei Popkov.

The forum will consider matters related to the creation and development of digital economy, its influence on the economic and social development of the society, analyze the best practices of successful public-private partnership in the area of information and communication technology, discuss prospects of international cooperation of service providers with suppliers, investors and end users.

Participants of the forum will also discuss issues related to the development of 5G technology, the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals international program in the most important areas for humankind, first of all in the ICT sector.

The ITU Telecom World exhibition will showcase innovative achievements in the ICT sector, including smart city, smart home and other projects.

The ITU Telecom World 2015 forum was held in Budapest and gathered more than 4,000 participants from 129 countries, including 239 leaders of the global ICT sector.
