Belarus, Armenia negotiating assembly of agricultural machines in Gyumri

MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Armenia are in negotiations on opening an enterprise that will assemble agricultural machines in the city of Gyumri, BelTA learned from Viktor Guminsky, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, before a meeting of the delegations of the Belarusian and Armenian parliaments on 29 June.

In particular, Viktor Guminsky noted that the potential of economic cooperation is not completely utilized, this is why it is necessary to find ways to advance relations in this sphere. “The current state of trade and economic relations cannot satisfy either our side or the Armenian side,” remarked the MP. “We have been discussing the opening of an enterprise to assemble agricultural machines in the city of Gyumri for a long time, including upon the request of the Armenian side, but unfortunately little progress has been achieved in this matter,” said Viktor Guminsky. He explained that the possibility of accessing third-country markets is being discussed.

A delegation of the Armenian parliament led by Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov is in Belarus on a visit on 29 June – 2 July. Members of the delegation are expected to take part in the ninth session of the interparliamentary commission on cooperation between the parliaments of Armenia and Belarus. Bilateral negotiations have been scheduled as well.

Armenian MPs are also expected to take part in the unveiling of a carved stone cross that has been erected to commemorate the Armenian soldiers, who died to defend the Brest fortress. Apart from that, Armenian MPs will also visit the Belarusian State Museum of History of the Great Patriotic War.
