Belarus, Amur Oblast agree to boost mutual trade

MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Amur Oblast of Russia plan to increase mutual trade. The parties are mulling over Belarusian agricultural exports, head of the main foreign economic activity department at the Agriculture and Food Ministry Alexei Bogdanov told BelTA as he commented on the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Amur Oblast.

The visit included the third meeting of the permanent working group on bilateral cooperation between Belarus and the Russian oblast. The parties talked about a decline in the trade turnover in 2014. According to Minister of Agriculture of Amur Oblast Sergei Vologdin, there were a number of objective reasons (including floods in 2013) behind it. “Solutions have already been found. We are ready to move forward,” Sergei Vologdin said.

The parties agreed to increase Belarusian meat and dairy supplies, as well as other food products, to Amur Oblast. Representatives of the Kalinkovichi Dairy may visit the oblast with a view of intensifying the exports of milk powder.

“Besides, the parties will continue cooperation in livestock breeding. In 2015 we will supply 1,000 heads of young breeder to Amur Oblast. The target for 2016 is 2,000,” Alexei Bogdanov said.

The parties also agreed to discuss the construction of a dairy farm in Amur Oblast, Belarus’ participation in industrial and housing construction. They will continue cooperation between the agrarian educational establishments and exchange of breeding material.
