MOSCOW, 6 June (BelTA) – Belarus’ Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi said at the panel discussion “Union State: 25 years of integration - results and new challenges” at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum what Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko called the pillars of technological sovereignty of the Union State, BelTA has learned.

“Micro-chips, machine tools, airplanes were named as three pillars of technological sovereignty of the Union State during our president’s visit to the aircraft factory in Irkutsk. He said that with Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin, Russian President] they will soon hear detailed reports from the governments on the progress made in the implementation of the agreements, projects that concern these three key areas,” Dmitry Krutoi said.

According to him, the implementation of the decree of the Supreme State Council of the Union State on a common industrial policy should result in the development of Union State goods. The ambassador believes that practical work in this area should be launched by the end of this year.

Dmitry Krutoi also stated that despite the pressure and sanctions of the West, Belarus and Russia showed stable development in 2022 and 2023. “In January-April 2024 the economies of the two countries demonstrated even stronger growth. The mutual trade added $1 billion in the first four months of the year. The growth is 7%. We are firmly standing on our feet,” the diplomat said.
