MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – Belarus intends to secure at least $1.5 billion worth of export to China. The plans are stipulated by the draft national program meant to support and develop Belarus’ export in 2016-2020 (Belarus Export), BelTA has learned. The document has been published by the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the sake of public discussion.

Among other things goals of the new program include using the Silk Road Economic Belt initiative for modernizing, expanding the transport and logistics system and securing at least $1.5 billion export to China, enabling favorable conditions for transit transportation in containers between China and the European Union.

In the new five-year period Belarus will try to preserve and find additional niches on traditional markets in addition to finding new ones on promising markets. Plans have been made to enable a unified pricing policy for Belarusian contractors on the regional market and to develop the national commodity distribution network.

Plans have also been made to step up interaction with the United Nations Organization, international economic organizations, regional customs unions and free trade zones in export matters. The national export potential will be positioned and utilized to promote export interests as well as manufacturing and logistics interests on regional markets.

The implementation of the outlined conceptual directions will contribute to the achievement of a balanced (one third, one third, one third) ratio of export of Belarusian commodities to markets of the Eurasian Economic Union, the European Union, and distant arc countries.

The new promising markets in distant arc countries do not include the Eurasian Economic Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the European Union, Brazil, Venezuela, Vietnam, Georgia, India, China, Cuba, Mongolia, Nigeria, Pakistan, the USA, and South Africa.
