MINSK, 27 September (BelTA) – Belarus is 23rd in the 2020 Global Food Security Index among 113 countries, BelTA learned from the official Telegram channel of the Belarusian Food and Agriculture Ministry.
According to the ministry, Russia goes 24th, Kazakhstan -32nd, Azerbaijan – 56th, Uzbekistan – 83rd, Tajikistan – 85th, Poland – 25th, Spain – 26th, Hungary – 36th, Bulgaria – 44th, and Ukraine – 54th. In 2019, Belarus was 36th.
“The needs of Belarus' population for meat and dairy products are fully satisfied by domestic producers. Per capita meat production in the country exceeds its consumption by 38.4%, milk and dairy products by 3.4 times. Per capita milk production is 828 kg/person with consumption of 244 kg/person and meat production is 137 kg/person with consumption of 99 kg/person. The level of self-sufficiency is 134.9% in meat and 244% in milk,” the report said.
